movie review : World War Z

This is actually in my list for movie I must watch along with Oblivion(which I missed due to some unforeseen event) simply because it has Brad Pitt in it.
It starts with a sketchy explanation on what had hit earth. With some sceptics calling all this just a hoax and what not. But then, just as brief as the explanation given, situation turn ugly in and instance. the city was overrun with 'zombies' and the hero saved his family. blablabla. We were then told hat he was actually a former super investigator with the UN and they need his help to find the answer to all this. We jump from the ship to South Korea, to Israel where we learn that no matter how high you built the wall, they will eventually come and get you. (on the side note, if the zombies in the movie ever decide to attack us, I'm guessing the family behind me will be the cause of our death, with all the munching and shouting noney which is chinese but I'm not sure what it meant). You will understand why I said that only after you watch the movie.
However, the movie ends in a cliffhanger, yes they managed to find the solution, but they did not show how this disaster really ends. You just have to make your own conclusion with this one.

I would rate it 4 / 5

movie review : Man of Steel

To be honest, I was waiting for the JLA movie but what do we get? a reboot of the Superman franchise, not that it is an entirely bad thing. A retelling of Superman's early life. Sketchy but just enough to appeal to the uninitiated. A confusing take on shifting the storyline to and fro, but a commendable try anyway.
Let us take a look into the movie. The action only started way into the second half into the movie, where Superman battled General Zod's lieutenants. Good old fist fights to start the action and where the good guy actually had a tough time battling his enemies. But lets face it, just like Batman needs his Joker, Superman needs his arch nemesis to actually make this a fun movie to watch and General Zod never threatens to be just that. Luckily, we had a few glimpse of Lexcorp properties which might hint that Lex Luthor might just makes an appearance in the next movie unless it gets reboot again and again.
probably the most iconic image of the movie where Superman surrenders.

I would rate the movie 3 / 5

movie review : PEE MAK

**SPOILER ALERT**

Though I'm not really a fan of horror movies, something caught my attention when I saw the trailer of Pee Mak. It reminds me of Nang Nak, a horror@tragic@romantic movie that I watched ages ago. So, paid for my ticket and waited for the movie to start. The first minute was really promising in a sense that it might be scary after all. After that, not so scary, I mean, not scary at all. There were a few funny moments and some surprising scene but that was about it in the horror department. But wait, there's more....

When we got to the carnival, especially at the scene where Nak was talking to Mak while on the Ferris wheel, suddenly i got the feeling that this is not even a horror story. As cold as i might be, I was actually touched. I could hear a few awwww and aaaaa from the girls while one ah pek kept on laughing for no apparent reason (his laugh was really annoying). Then the part where some girls actually cried in the cinema, the temple scene. Here, Pee Mak chose a different path than Nang Nak. In Nang Nak, the ghost of Nak left for the netherworl after some effort from the most prominent Buddhist Monk in Siam. But in Pee Mak, through their conversation, you could sense just how much Mak really loves his wife even after knowing that Nak was already dead to a point in a flashback Mak hugged and kissed the corpse of Nak. I was trying my best to hold back my tears(so much for being a tough,cold-hearted guy).

In the end,it was a good movie with humours horrors and romance.

for me, I would rate it 4/5
